About
Finding Magic in Stone
I never planned to start a crystal business. Back in 2008, I was just another backpacker exploring South America when I stumbled into a tiny mineral shop in Montevideo. The owner, Carlos, had been selling crystals for 40 years. His weathered hands showed me how to feel the subtle ridges of a raw amethyst, teaching me that each imperfection tells a story.
That chance encounter changed everything.
For the next five years, I traveled between small mines and family workshops, learning from people who'd worked with crystals their whole lives. In Brazil, I met Maria, a third-generation crystal artisan who taught me how rose quartz should be carved with the grain, not against it. In Tibet, an old miner named Tenzin showed me how to spot the finest clear quartz by holding it up to the morning sun.
ME Crystal grew from these experiences. The name came from a joke - my initials are M.E., and friends said it was meant to be. But it stuck because it reflected something true: each crystal seems to find its perfect match, like old friends finally meeting.
We're not the biggest crystal shop online, and that's okay. We work with small family mines and independent artisans, the kind of people who take time to do things right. Some of our pieces take months to source, but we believe good things can't be rushed.
Every crystal in our collection has been hand-selected, often from places I've visited personally. Some are perfectly raw, straight from the earth. Others have been transformed by skilled craftspeople using techniques passed down through generations. Each one comes with real stories about real people - the miners who found them, the artisans who shaped them, and sometimes even the ancient legends of the lands they come from.
Sure, we could stock more inventory or cut costs by buying in bulk. But that's not why we're here. We're here because there's something magical about finding exactly the right crystal at exactly the right time.
Come find your crystal. It might just have been waiting for you.
